Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard

Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma

PERSERVING HERITAGE, HONORING SERVICE

Established in 1993 by a group of Chickasaw veterans, the Chickasaw Honor Guard conducts military honors at funeral and memorial services and assists with many tribal and community functions. The first official honor guard ceremony was posting the colors at the 1993 Chickasaw Nation Annual Meeting and participating in the festival parade.

The Chickasaw Honor Guard has operated out of the Veteran’s lodge for the past three years. It was essential to the Nation to continue to honor the work the Honor Guard does and provide a space for the Guard to grow and operate.

The Honor Guard Facility was designed to match the look and feel of the Veteran’s Lodge and Administration Facility and includes a large central meeting room, full kitchen, two offices for staff, and a secure storage area for rifles, flags, and uniforms. The building is meant to provide the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard with a new level of support for the important work they do for the Nation.
