NEW TOP TIERED MODERN FACILITIES
Okarche Public Schools has had a long tradition of being a top tiered basketball program with many state titles. Okarche also has a top tiered Speech, Drama and Debate program that wins many titles and awards year after year. Both of these exceptional programs were in much need of new modern facilities,
The Basketball Program has been playing in the same gym since the 1940s and the Speech, Drama, and Debate Program did not have a space of their own. The time had come, and the citizens of Okarche approved a bond resolution to build new facilities for these programs. Okarche Public Schools wanted both of these facilities to be located at the New High School for convenience, safety and security of the Okarche Family.
Being attached to the New High School the design had to embrace and complement the original design creating cohesion within the entire complex. The New High School has a unique two-story glass commons area that we used as the new connection piece to access the Black Box Theater and New Gymnasium Event Center.
Both facilities provide its own naturally light filled lobbies welcoming guests and displaying their respected programs many awards and trophies. In the New Gym, Okarche Public Schools wanted to pay homage to all the past teams through their history by replicating the old courts design.
These new facilities will continue the excellence of Okarche students, staff, and citizens for many future generations.
