AN EXCITING TRANSFORMATION FOR THE COMMUNITY

BWA Architects provided architectural services for the adaptive reuse of a vacant 21,000 square foot bowling alley into the Chickasaw Nation Culture and Humanities administrative building as part of a federally and tribally funded urban renewal initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Chickasaw Nation.

The scope included full interior and exterior renovation to accommodate more than 50 private offices, training rooms, conference spaces, and integrated art and exhibit display areas throughout the building. Exterior improvements included a new covered drive-through entry, site and utility modifications, construction of a new parking lot, and expansion onto adjacent property.

Significant structural coordination was required to introduce natural light into the formerly windowless, load-bearing masonry structure while maintaining building integrity. The project transformed both the facility and its surrounding neighborhood, supporting broader community revitalization efforts.
